Branch Ranch

Branch Ranch

Completed December, 2005

The design called for a new home for a retired couple that allows for entertaining and housing space for their extended family. The clients wanted the new home to take advantage of the sites panoramic view and the constant prevailing breezes.

The program consists of a Bunk house, Main house, Master Bedroom wing and numerous broad porches flanking an existing cabin. The compound of buildings was arranged to create intimacy and privacy while maintaining a sense of privacy for all inhabitants. The buildings were situated amongst the many existing oaks to help provide relief from the hot Texas sun.

All of the buildings were arranged to capture the breezes and each building has its own exterior material to help break down the scale of the entire compound. To match the new construction, the existing cabin was clad in stucco and a new galvanized corrugated metal roof was added.

The interior courtyard was created for activity and fun and has a heated pool, jacuzzi spa, firepit and covered exterior kitchen with itÂ’s own bar-b-que. The outside terrace off the Main house was intended for relaxation, reflection and for watching the storms roll in.
